Well, I'm not sure what happened to my first post but..Hi. It's me again. Ashley June. This blog is to help me stay focused on eating clean during my fifth, yes, and final pregnancy. After a grueling month of trying, I got a positive pregnancy test big ol' whopping TWO days ago. That makes me 3 weeks pregnant people...what's that in hours/minutes? Anyway, I. AM. SO. THRILLED! 5 little blessings...mine all mine. Well, and Nate's. That's a most important detail. Anyway, to sum up
1. I have/had/always will have a food addiction
2. I was 143 lbs when I weighed in for college VB at age 18.
3. I was 238 (I think-I was a bit hesitant to actually let that number register) at my last appt before I had my 4th baby, Reagan. Age 29.
Wow, that's about 100 pounds gained over an 11 year time span.
4. Holy Cow...... wait - not literally!
5. When Reagan was about 4 months old, after dabbling in a few good weight loss solutions (make a long story short) I found my ZONE. Group Ride/Group Power and most importantly CLEAN EATING which will be referred to as CE from this point forward. Over the next year I lost 47 lbs and was wearing my size 8 jeans like a boss.
So, here I am, with child again and knowing that I CAN NOT. I WILL not let myself eat out of control for the next 9 months. I've already set my goal of being "in the best shape of my life" (a size 6-8 would be great) by my 33th birthday. Yes, I know that's 2.5 YEARS away, but listen, the biggest lesson I learned was that slow and steady win the race. I KNOW that to do it right, it's going to take me another full year to get the weight off. So, a year to be pregnant, and a full year to get the wight off again. Then I'm getting an abdominoplasty ...aka tummy tuck and life will be wonderful. LOL! I'm actually dead serious about that one. I think I deserve to put some attention/repair toward my wonderful, blown-the-size-of-a small-blimp-FIVE-times body. And I don't think I'd actually ever feel like I was in the "best shape of my life" with my loose skin sagging down on my belly. Problem solved. But I want to have lost 99% if not ALL of my weight before the procedure.
Anyway, the last few months I've kind of been in limbo read: my pants are now too tight. OVER. Time to get back on the saddle and push through the thoughts in my had coupled with the nausea in my body and EAT CLEAN!!! Goals for tomorrow:
#1 Drink lots of water (no apple cider that I just bought today at Costco)
#2 6 small meals
That oughtta get me started!!!
My Clean Eating Pregnancy

So...
I'm not actually pregnant. Yet. Or I technically could be about 4 days pregnant. If that even counts.
GOALS:
My goal for this pregnancy is simple: eat clean. I don't have a number where I'd like my weight because that's just dumb. I know that if I eat clean, my weight will stay in check. So, from the cuff, let's just thrown some goals out there:
1. Survive the first trimester.
This one is a toughy sometimes. NAH-ZEE-UH. 24/7. No good. What little food sounds even remotely edible has, in my past, been very unhealthy. Hmmm, maybe the daily McDonalds Chicken Nuggets I had with Reagan, or the ENDLESS chips and salsa with Ellie helped pack on that 50 extra lbs? Yikes. But, my goal this time around will be different - wait, I never had a goal with my previous four pregnancies. Ok, once-a-week fast food. There! I said it. I've done this enough times to know that NOTHING sounds good so why bother with unheathy calorie laden crap. Will I be able to eat fresh veggies with every mean - no way, but lets think of some bland, low sugar items I can snack on: Okay, you've got the BRAT diet: Exekiel bread, bananas, brown rice/quinoa, PB!, hard boiled eggs, lightly seasoned baked chicken breast...cold, appesauce. See, there's tons.Goal #1 summary, I'm not looking to really hit the CE ball out of the park for the first 12 weeks. But by eating bland, clean snacks and limiting fast food to once a week, I should be able to maintain control.
2. After that point is when I want to really hit the CE. I will shoot for clean dessert only twice a week and keep going with the fast food no more than once a week...which doubles as a financial help:) I usually feel great in my second trimester so this should be very attainable.
3. This blog will serve as a food journal. I'm sure sometimes it will be daily, sometimes weekly, but I want to plan/post/evaluate on here.
4. Keep working out! Group Power and Group Ride just like I've been doing! Adaptations as needed.
5. Get 8+ hrs of sleep. This one might be just as hard as eating clean for me! I relish the quiet time at night with no kids and a clean house. But this one is O-SO-CRUCIAL for me. It's actually when I'm tired that I'm mosty likely to turn to food for relief. If that means going to bed at 8:30, so be it.
